The Independent Bottlers challenge is the annual selection of the very best independent bottlers. Recent releases are tasted from this select group of private whisky businesses to establish the finest in each region. Judging is blind and the results are promoted throughout the pages of Whisky Magazine as well as on worlddrinksawards.com

Winner Presentation
The winners are announced at the Independent Bottlers Challenge presentation on 7 December 2018 in Edinburgh.

Result Promotion
  • Results will be presented in Whisky Magazine's December issue with tasting notes, in depth reviews on each bottler and full results, on www.whiskymag.com, www.worlddrinksawards.com and in national and international press, reaching in excess of 250,000 consumers worldwide.
  • Availability of point of sales materials in the form of stickers, shelf-talkers, collarettes and the logo style sheet to maximise your results to the trade and consumers.

The judging process

Each product is being blind tasted to find a gold, silver and bronze winner in each category and style. The independent bottler with the highest scores is being awarded in each category.

The overall independent bottler is being selected by the awards received in round 1.

Shipping

For each product entered we require 1 bottle with a minimum amount of liquid of 500ml.

Please note that all entries need to be duty paid. This is not included in the entry rates. If duty is not paid, we will settle this on your behalf and send an invoice, including a £25.00 admin fee.

Terms & conditions

All must be made online.
  • Entries are only accepted on a completed online entry form with the appropriate entry fee.
  • Any entry form which arrives incomplete, late or illegible and any product which is late or damaged may be deemed invalid.
  • If an entry is withdrawn by the due date or disqualified, the entry fee will be returned subject to an administration charge of 50% of the entry fee. Products will be retained by the Organiser.
  • The judges’ decision on all matters is final.
  • The Organisers may, at their discretion, refuse to accept an entry.
  • The Organisers may alter the closing date for the awards, place an entry in the most appropriate style, rule that an entry may not compete or is ineligible to compete, or alter the date, time or place on or at which the awards are scheduled to take place.
  • The Chair of Judges has the power to disqualify any entry not deemed as meeting the entry criteria.
  • These rules are governed by the laws of the UK.
  • Please note: bottles will not be returned.
  • Our policy on unreturned bottles is as follows:
  • Opened bottles may be poured at trade and consumer events to promote the individual brand
  • Closed bottles may be distributed to individual charities on a case by basis, or presented for auction, all proceeds going to charity.
